Fred Rubschlager founded Rubschlager Baking Corporation in Chicago in 1913 as a neighborhood, full-line bakery called Rubschlager Brothers Bakery. All five Rubschlager brothers, including my grandfather George Rubschlager, were at one time or another involved with Rubschlager Brothers Bakery. He later moved onto other endeavors. So when people familiar with the bread hear my name they ask me if I’m related, and yes I am.
