\"\"<\/a>Back to the hard miles as we make our way back north.\u00a0 The big prize today was the miles between Crescent City and Brookings.\u00a0 That was the lone stretch of US Route 101 that we didn’t do in our rides last year so it felt good to get that taken care of.\u00a0 So now we can say that we’ve ridden US Route 101 from Fort Bragg up to Aberdeen.\u00a0 We’ve not yet entirely committed to the Olympic Peninsula just yet, and considering the weather may hold off until later in the summer to complete that piece.<\/p>\n

There’s not a whole lot else to add to the ride report today since a lot of it has been said previously.\u00a0 The one new thing that we encountered was coastal mist.\u00a0 I’d seen it written about in other ride reports from other individuals on the blogs I frequent, but hadn’t yet experienced it first hand — even in a car.\u00a0 I guess we’re just really lucky this trip.\u00a0 The mist started just north of Port Orford, and kept with us all the way into Coos Bay.\u00a0 It wasn’t a whole lot of fun riding on those roads wondering just how much traction I had.<\/p>\n

After arriving at the hotel we immediately hopped into the hot tub and sat there for about thirty minutes to warm up.\u00a0 It wasn’t that cold, but add together the slight dampness of the air plus the dampness of our gear plus the wind chill coming from the speed we were traveling at plus the effect of evaporation due to the dampness and it was freaking cold.\u00a0 By the time I’d realized the pickle I was getting into putting on the rain gear would have been of limited help — especially my rain gear.<\/p>\n

Kudos to Angie for finding a great Italian restaurant here in Coos Bay for dinner tonight.\u00a0 Almost like back home in Chicago.<\/p>\n
