Finally that day arrived and the iPhone 4S that I ordered showed up. Prior to today both Angie and I had been s..l..o..w..l..y using our iPhone 3g phones (ack!). We learned what patience really meant as our apps would take seemingly minutes to open up. Ultimately resorting to disabling Spotlight Searching, Location Services, and nearly anything that we could to just make it a few more months until the next iPhone was released. I can report that so far, as in the four hours I’ve been playing with it since I got home, that it is significantly faster and brings the fun back into having an iPhone. Well worth the agonizing months.
The actual registration process was a bit odd in that I’d received one set of instructions via Email when I ordered it from AT&T and then a slightly different one in the shipping box. When I powered up the phone there was still more setup that suggested I connect it to iTunes. This proved to make things even more confusing. Luckily my stumbling around resulted in the phone being activated other than the “I hope I’m doing this correctly” feeling (which was really just a veiled “I hope I don’t need to call support” feeling) only because I detest calling support of any sort. Not to say that AT&T doesn’t have an exemplary support department, I just didn’t want to find out tonight.
