Day 3 – Off to Bundeena

Vegemite isn’t very good. I tried some with breakfast this morning and was not pleased. I might try some again later, but I’m really going to need to talk myself into it. It tastes like soy sauce, and that is not something I want to taste on any of my breakfast foods unless it is left over Chinese take away.

We headed out on our walk-about today to learn about Aboriginal heritage. We were picked up at the hotel by a van service, and then picked up another American who was staying in Manly, but traveled over to City Centere for pickup.

After about a twenty minute ride we ended up at a ferry dock. I was expecting something along the line of the ferries in Seattle. Not quite. The ferry was a small boat along the line of what might be a water taxi elsewhere. We climbed onboard and started our journey across the bay. The swells on the bay were pretty high and the boat was rolling roughly. I was hoping for rougher water, but was the best we had today.

On the other side we hiked up and saw some of the parrots from yesterday hanging around their nest in a tree nook. We couldn’t see any of the babies, but we could hear them. What a racket, but super cute! We also saw a cockatoo hanging around in another tree.

We walked on and stopping now-and-then for some location specific information. Our tour guide shared lots of good information which I’m not going to repeat since I’ll get it wrong, and much would be lost without the sights and sounds to go with it.

Today was another scoarcher. Well into the forties (Celcisus) or over one hundred (Fahrenheit). By the time we got back to the hotel we were very hot. off to the indoor pool we went for some cool water, and then hot tub later.

After the pool I noticed that my legs had gotten a little burnt from being out. My legs never burn. When I was laying out to tan earlier in my life, I’d be nice and tan except for my legs which always received the same amount of sun. Anyway, I’ve added my legs to the sunblock slathering routine since the sun’s rays must be bending oddly.

Lunch was at the same place as yesterday because we liked it so much. Dinner was over in the Darling Harbor area.
