Day 1.5 – Can we sleep yet?

November 19th, 2014, didn’t really exist for Angie and I.  We departed LAX before midnight on the 18th, and we landed in Sydney on November 20th.  This day was sucked into the void never to be heard from again.

However, I can share that spending fourteen hours on a airplane is akin to cruel and unusual punishment.  Especially when that time is spent in economy class.  We flew on Virgin Austrailia, and the space in economy is cavernous when compared to the domestic United economy class seats.  My knees were not rubbing against the seat in front of me.  The service absolutely rocked and the cabin crew was amazing.  Likewise, the free in seat entertainment,  and the ability to charge my mobile device was great.  Sorry United, you’ve lost me.  I’m cashing in my miles, and I’m gone.

Angie signed us up for extreme vegetarian meals which apparently also means no dairy or gluten — both staples in my regular diet.  Dinner and breakfast on the plane, while tasty, weren’t tasty enough and I firmly blame the lack of dairy and gluten.

Finally, sleeping in economy is near impossible regardless of the amount of knee space.  I had so many kinks in my body from being curled up in a ball in the seat I needed a massage.
