It is the night before our longest road trip ever. Originally the plan had been to ride up to Alaska and then take the ferry system back down. After some serious thinking I’d decided that something in then lower 48 would probably be a bit more reasonable. First, we wouldn’t be as rushed. Second, this is Angie’s first real road trip on her own vehicle. We will save Alaska for another year when we can take our time and enjoy it instead of battling a barely reasonable time frame.
So instead of Alaska we’re doing a larger version of the ride we did last year. Crossing the Cascades and heading southeast. There is a rough plan that’ll take us down through Oregon, Nevada, and into California. Once in California we’ll begin heading north along the eastern side of the central valley, crossing back into Oregon on the eastern side of the Cascades. Then back across the mountains and up along the Washington coast, around the Olympic Peninsula, and then back home.
The real question is will that be the final route? Similar to last year the route is open ended so if we see something we’ll go there.
I’m so far behind packing it is insane. There is the clothing, toiletries, and some modifications to the bike left to do.
Well off to bed so that I can get some sleep — if that is even possible on a night before a big road trip.
Stay tuned!
